Duranguesa

History

S.c. Duranguesa is a sports non-profit society, founded on March 04, 1936, dedicated to the promotion, encouragement and development of cycling.

Teams of cycling schools, junior and females. Another activity of the Company is the organization of sporting events (Carreras).

Junior organizes annual tests, meetings and schools UCI test, "Durango-Durango" Saria Emakumeen for Féminas. In this last part the best teams and runners of the world as seen in the victory of the three times world champion Marianne Voss, winner of the event three times.

Founded in 1936, its beginnings were engaged in the organization of some cycling tests and bike rides.

From 1931 to 2009 organized the famous Urkiola Igoera / Rise Urkiola. In the beginning was organized by the SC Bilbaina until 1936 and from then until the end of their meeting was organized by the SCDuranguesa. The winners of this event include the likes of cyclists Marino Lejarreta, Pedro Delgado, Claudio Chiappucci or Tonny Rominger. Furthermore, the Duranguesa has a professional women's team category UCI since 2004, the Bizkaia Durango. This team has fought great cyclists Joanne Somarriba or Emma Johansson, and have achieved great victories like the Tour de France in female 2003.Podium Tour de France 2003 female

Another facet of this Society has been promoting cycling from its base, creating early SEVENTY (1,972), the SCHOOL CICLISMO.adas stages of the Tour of Spain: 1,975 (end of the 16th stage IRATXE HIGH-KM-Winner URKIOLA/150 TAMAMES AUGUSTINE, output stage 17 Kms DURANGO-BILBAO/123-Victor ALLAN DONALD) 1,977 (end of the 18th stage BILBAO-HIGH-Winner URKIOLA/126 Kms JOSEPH NAZABAL , out of the 19th stage URKIOLA-MIRANDA DE Victor Fredy MAERTENS EBRO/104 Kms). It has also been organizing stages of the Tour of the Basque Country (Professional), Back to Bizkaia (people).
